How to Judge Your Cat's Weight at Home
Use your hands and eyes together. Fur can hide body shape, and scale weight alone does not show whether a cat is lean or carrying extra fat.
Feel the ribs, do not just look
A fluffy cat can look larger than they are. You should be able to feel ribs with gentle pressure, but they should not feel sharp.
Look for a waist from above
